what a wonderful evening in peachland
A Beautiful Evening In Peachland!
The event was sold out. Everyone was welcomed with music by "Double A", followed by Opening of the 11th annual Oasis Art Show and announcement of this year's winners. The doors to the gallery were then opened to let everyone see the 74 fabulous works by 43 artists. The ribbons were in place and the art lovers got to enjoy the exhibition discovering the winners as they viewed the show. With many of the artists in attendance there was a chance to chat with the artists about their work. The attendees were treated to an appetizer buffet and welcomed back outside to enjoy the music and the evening.
We were incredibly lucky to have the event between wind and rain storms!
For those who stayed til the end there was a super fun after party around the new grand piano with everyone singing along to "Sweet Caroline".

An Intimate String Ensemble Concert
May 11, 2024
It is a tradition for the Peachland Community Arts Council to hold a String Ensemble Concert once a year in the Mary Smith Hall of the Peachland Art Gallery. These concerts involve students from the Kelowna Community Music School and their instructors Sandra Wilmot (violin), Ashley Kroecher (viola), and Martin Kratky (cello) who are players for the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. This year the concert was without a doubt outstanding!
The students were some of the most talented in the Okanagan: Lenna Barbaza (violin), Ben Barbaza (cello), Henry Barbaza (cello), Nicholas Covaser (violin, viola, double bass), and Peter Meyrick (violin, viola). The programme was challenging, uniquely varied, and blended well with the hall’s exhibition of colourful paintings. The programme offered a variety of works for strings by Mendelssohn, Schubert, Rossini, and a Suite of pieces from 'Pirates of the Caribbean.” Peachland is fortunate to have this annual musical visit from across the lake. For some, dinner with wine at the Gasthaus was a pleasant after concert bonus.

The sold out show was a smashing success!
The beautiful evening celebrating WOMEN opened with words from our wonderful musical director and Vice President of PCAC Paula Mclaughlin. Paula arranged a wonderful line up of talented girls and women from age 5 to 65 to entertain the audience. A lovely appetizer buffet was served along with wine, mocktails and dessert. Dessert was especially popular with the young performers. We saw many smiling faces with chocolate covered strawberries wander by. The audience also got a sneak peak at the 10th annual Captured Images Show, which opened the following day. Thank you to everyone who attended! We would also like to thank the event crew who made this event possible: Deb, Paula, Vivian, Susan, Linda, Eileen, and Jackie. There were several other people who pitched along the way, we couldn't do this without you! Also a great big "THANK YOU" to Vince Boyko the sound man, he doesn't travel light, but what an impact having all the equipment and technical abilities makes. |
Donation for Scholarship(s) - thank to everyone who contributed, $170 was raised!
13th Annual Hearts festival
February 12 - 17, 2024
.
A whole week of ART what could be better?
The 13th annual HeARTS Festival was held Feb 12 to 17th with events at venues around town and culminating with a Party on Friday the 16th, followed by the day long showcase February 17.
The HeARTS festival is put on by PCAC to provide our member groups the opportunity to connect with the community and showcase their groups activities. The goal is to raise awareness of all the different art groups available to the community and build membership for these groups. It also provides an opportunity for them to raise funds through sales and activities.
Open houses were put on by several groups during the week providing an opportunity for the community to see how the groups operate. The Library held a poetry contest, a prize was awarded to Don Stutters by draw of names. The poems entered were all fabulous and published below with consent of the authors.
