The 2025 HeARTs Festival Artisan Showcase was a great success, with the combined efforts of our large community of artists, artisans, biologists, and volunteers. The historic schoolhouse, Our SPACE, was filled for three days with displays of all kinds, and a wonderful scene of locals and visitors alike, coming in to enjoy them.
SOME OF THE SPECIAL SCENES:
The Peachland Elementary School students decorated over 180 hearts, hanging as a curtain to greet the guests,
each with messages of love written on them.
The Art Gallery was filled with paintings, sculptures and fabric art from all four art groups and
the quilters’ guild as well, and “musical painting” activities happened each day. The front room of the building was bustling with craft workshops: woven hearts, cookie decorating, piano music, the resident bats information,
and a special performance by the ukulele strummers.
The board room was lined with tables and displays from several of the interest groups, including the Sowers and Growers Gardeners, the Peachland Library, the Variety Singers, the Little Schoolhouse, and the Fall Fair.
People were mingling, enjoying treats and conversations, and picking up assorted gifts and crafts. The entire building was buzzing with the energy of this collaboration of all the groups who participate in the
Peachland Arts Council, the Okanagan Folk School, and BEEPS.
Many visitors came from West Kelowna, Kelowna and beyond, and it was clear from their expressions that they were amazed and impressed with all that happens in Our SPACE. We will continue to welcome the public to come and take part in the many activities and programs we have to offer here.
Special thanks go to Bruce and LindaLea Klippenstein, who braved the cold and the snow to greet and encourage passers-by to stop in for a visit. Thanks as well, to the many willing volunteers, who helped to organize, assemble, host,
and then break down the show at the end.
It is this village of enthusiastic members who are turning this historic building into the cultural, educational and ecological centre of our community that has been envisioned, and is now coming to fruition!
