About the Artist
Juve Furtado AFCA, SCA
Juve was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. After 32 years in education as a teacher and high school administrator in Winnipeg Manitoba, Juve retired to Vernon, British Columbia where he pursued his love of art and photography.
“I have always been drawn to the beauty of nature's seasonal landscapes and wildlife. I’m a self-taught artist and my preferred medium is watercolor. I love the transparency and spontaneity of watercolors and I try to capture the many wonderful variations of light, color and texture that I find in nature. I enjoy photographing landscapes and rustic scenes when hiking or traveling abroad. These images become the inspiration for my paintings. My goal is always to create art that I hope will resonate with the viewer in a meaningful way”.
Juve resides in Vernon, British Columbia and is an Associate (AFCA) member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA). His work is featured annually in various FCA juried shows. Juve's work is in private collections in Canada, US and abroad.
