Celebrating a Creative Fall at Peachland Art Gallery

What a wonderful fall it has been at the Peachland Art Gallery! Our fall workshop season has brought together talented instructors, enthusiastic participants, and a shared love of creativity. From drawing and painting to exploring new artistic techniques, our workshops have offered wonderful opportunities to learn, experiment, and connect through art.

We are delighted to look back at some of the workshops that have taken place over the past few weeks and share what is coming up next!

Portrait Drawing with Jim Elwood

Our four-week Portrait Drawing workshop with Jim Elwood gave participants the opportunity to develop their drawing skills and explore the art of capturing facial features and proportions. From mapping out the face to working with side profiles and three-quarter views, participants learned techniques using graphite and conte while building their confidence in portraiture.

Palette Knife Painting with Linda Lovisa

Participants enjoyed exploring the exciting possibilities of palette knife painting with Linda Lovisa. This workshop encouraged artists to experiment with texture, paint application, and expressive techniques to create unique works of art. It was a wonderful opportunity to discover new ways of applying paint and bringing paintings to life.

The Fun of Oil Painting with Colleen J. Dyson

Our oil painting workshop with Colleen J. Dyson offered participants an opportunity to explore the richness and versatility of oil paints. From colour mixing and understanding complementary colours to experimenting with painting techniques, the workshop encouraged artists to develop their skills and enjoy the beautiful possibilities of this traditional medium. Colleen shared her knowledge and passion for painting, inspiring participants to continue exploring their artistic abilities.

Kids Art Lab with Mary

Our young artists have been discovering their creativity through Kids Art Lab with Mary. This program introduces children to a variety of artistic concepts and techniques, including watercolour, drawing fundamentals, perspective, colour, composition, and mixed media. It has been wonderful to offer children a space to explore their imaginations, develop new skills, and express themselves through art.

Peachland Youth Choir

Our fall youth programming has also included the Peachland Youth Choir, bringing young voices together through the joy of music. The choir provides a welcoming environment for children to develop their musical abilities, build confidence, and experience the fun of singing together. Programs like this help nurture creativity and bring the joy of music into our community.

Coming Up: The Layered Self with Sandra Van Den Ham

We are excited to welcome Sandra Van Den Ham for The Layered Self, an inspiring two-day mixed-media workshop taking place November 2 and 3 at the Peachland Art Gallery.

This workshop invites participants to explore the creative possibilities of layering, imagery, and personal expression while combining realism with expressive, abstract backgrounds. It is an opportunity to experiment with different approaches, discover new techniques, and create artwork that reflects your own unique perspective.

Whether you are an experienced artist or simply looking to try something new, The Layered Self promises an engaging and rewarding creative experience.
