The Pincushion Quilt Guild was formally established in 2005 by a few passionate stitchers and over the years has grown into a vibrant, welcoming and diverse group of quilters that gathers weekly in the Peachland Community Center.  The guild is named after the distinctive peak that overlooks Peachland and is comprised of members from all over the central Okanagan. 

 We endeavor to foster an atmosphere of fun, friendship and inclusivity to mentor and inspire one another.   In addition to facilitating workshops for our members, coordinating trunk shows and interesting guest speakers, we organize several offsite mini retreats each year.  These are fondly known as the popular “Quilt ‘til you Wilt” weekends.

 The guild presently has 40 active members and maintains a waitlist for prospective members. Our guild includes several subgroups geared towards those that enjoy creating art quilts, other fiber arts, slow stitching or handwork projects.  Guests are welcome to drop in for a nominal fee as space permits.

Pincushion Quilt Guild members support and participate in several local community events, including the annual Peachland Arts Council HeArts Festival, Peachland Foodbank, and Peachland Elementary School fundraising endeavours.  We proudly donate beautifully quilted items upon request for silent auctions and raffles to support their causes. We have also sewn and donated several  “Quilts of Valor” which are provided to Canadian Armed Forces members by the QOV – Canada Society. 

Overall in 2024 -2025 almost 300 items were donated to various charitable causes and service groups.  These included baby quilts for the KGH neo-natal intensive care unit,  Christmas stockings to the Salvation Army, and many quilts for local organizations including  the West Kelowna Women’s Shelter, Freedoms Door, and Heads in Beds organizations.  

A collection of Poppy themed Art Quilts made by guild members was recently displayed at Our SPACE gallery to commemorate Remembrance Day and will on display at the Kelowna Rotary Center for the Arts in May, as well as October and November 2026.

Planning is currently underway in preparation for the tri-annual Quilts on the Beach Show to be held in Peachland in May 2028.
