Peachland Variety Singers
The Variety Singers have been in existence for fifty-two years. They are a volunteer choir, SABT voicing, that enjoys practicing, learning and performing. The personality and strength of this choir have sustained it over the years, directors, and aging voices.
Membership:
We are experiencing fluctuating numbers because of death, health issues, busy schedules and vocal changes due to age. The averaged over the past two years has been 22 singers per concert
Our voicing ranges: soprano, alto, tenor and base however we best blend together in combinations of three voicing to give support to the music arrangements selected
All are members of the 50+ Centre
We meet for two terms each year; January to April, September to December
We operate with an executive:
President - to be elected
Vice president/secretary/ media contact - Diane Ogg.
Secretary/ librarian - Sigrid Orford
Music Director - Joanne Forsyth
Rehearsals:
The choir meets at the 50+ Centre, Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 am
The choice of music available from the library covers many genres and styles of music for an aging vocal range. Programs and music are the choice of the director.
We are always looking for new members to join, it is a non- auditioned choir.
This year we are looking for an accompanist, if interest please contact Joanne Forsyth at jeforsyth@shaw.ca
Performances:
Twice a year we present to the community a concert. The past two years are performances were:
Winter Gathering
‘From Sea to Sea’
Around the Fire’.
Variety Singers Go to Broadway
The choir provides goodies, tea and coffee after the concert for the community
The concerts are a free will offering which covers the cost of the day and music when we need to expand the repertoire
