Monday, June 29, 2020 Dear members: This year’s 2020 OASIS Art Show opened on Saturday at the Peachland Art Gallery without the crowds and traditional garden reception and award ceremony. Unfortunately, the pandemic prevented such; when you have a moment drop into the gallery and gaze at the amazing range of art the Central Okanagan Chapter of Federation of Canadian artists traditionally display. The exhibition will run summer hours every day this July from 9 to 5 until the 31. If you find yourself stuck at home on the evening of Canada Day this Wednesday, you’ll be able to celebrate its winding down by joining a Night of Jazz and Soul, Bianca Berkland’s live concert streamed on the Internet at 7:30 to 8:30 pm from the Peachland Art Gallery’s Facebook page. The Peachland Community Arts Council regrets that the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented holding its usual in-gallery concerts and lectures. In this instance, however, it will be limiting the concert to a token LIVE audience for Bianca’s benefit. In this way we hope you will all be able to take advantage of Bianca’s exceptional talent which will be streamed through to the Peachland Art Gallery’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PeachlandArtGallery/. Bianca is a modern pianist and guitarist from Oliver (with a winery in the vicinity, La Casa Bianca, named after her). She’s performed at the Rotary Centre, Frank Venables Theatre, and many other regional venues. Please join us on our Facebook page the eve of Canada Day and enjoy a fabulous concert! There are currently two calls out for artists submissions to the Peachland Art Gallery this August. The first is a call for artists to participate in “Artists in Studio,” Monday, August 3 to Sunday, August 23, 2020. The second is a call for artists throughout BC to participate in “Form & Fibre” – Monday, August 3 to Sunday, August.23, 2020. Entry forms for these calls can be downloaded from our website at the underlined links or from the attached files above. The cut-off date for entry is July 20. The Summer Arts Program is starting up this Wednesday, Canada Day, at the Peachland Little Schoolhouse on Brandon Lane off Fourth Street. The programme, sponsored by the Peachland Community Arts Council, will run every Thursday to Saturday in July from 11 am to 3 pm. A brochure is attached and is also downloadable from the website. This week will feature on July 1 to July 4 three local quilters who from 11 am to 3 pm will bring children’s quilts, hats, bags, and a variety of fabric items to show and sell. The following week, “Passion For Art” members Faye Belanger, Eleatha Reniers, and Vera Rezansoff will fill the School with their art. From July 16 to 18 be sure to drop in on the amazing McLaughlins and sculptor and artist Terry Moore. Lots of art work to see there! Three from the Peachland Art Group, Julie, Chris and Millie will finish off the month of July with a variety of paintings. Pandemic protocols will be practised with complimentary disposable masks and hand sanitizers at the door and a limit of six people (including artists) in the School at one time. Visitors are asked to wear the disposable masks to protect the artists who are mostly seniors and vulnerable to contacting the virus. Happy Canada Day! Chris
