How Raven Stole the Sun

Cleland Theatre – Sunday, October 22, 2:00 p.m.

Children’s Showcase presents Dallas Yellowfly in How Raven Stole the Sun. Dallas blends storytelling with audience participation and improv comedy to create a lively interactive version of this traditional coastal First Nations tale. Four courageous – and lucky – audience members are brought on stage, each taking on a costume and a role in the play. These young actors follow Yellowfly’s guidance during the narration of the story. Audiences enjoy laughter along with insight into the art of storytelling, acting and coastal culture in this engaging presentation.
Dallas Yellowfly is a member of the Siksika First Nation and has worked in Aboriginal Education for 15 years. He has performed stand up comedy on national radio stations and has also recorded two albums and toured Canada as a professional guitar player. Dallas is one of the three indigenous storytellers of 3 Crows Productions. Together, they are committed to sharing aboriginal traditions, values and experience with energy and humour to encourage understanding in youth of all ages and cultures.
Suitable for ages 3 and up, the performance will be Sunday, October 22, 2:00 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre (Penticton Community Centre).
