Canwax West invites proposals for an encaustic art instructor for the annual fall (September 14-16 or 21-23, 2018) workshop in Penticton BC. You are invited to submit a proposal to lead a workshop for a maximum of 15 students. The theme of the workshop will be IMPRESSIONISM. Participants indicated interest in instruction in color theory as it relates to the workshop. Unique techniques such as rusting, mono printing, multimedia and framing/presentation, creating a body of work were also areas of interest.
Background: Canwax West (CWW) is an organization that encourages encaustic art through educational opportunities and support for the approximately 35 members and encaustic artists of Western Canada. CWW provides one major educational opportunity per year under the tutelage of an exceptional encaustic artist. This instructional opportunity is becoming well sought after for the unique and enthusiastic encaustic culture which has developed here. National and International instruction has been provided since the late Thea Haubrich began encaustic instruction in this valley.

Submission Procedure: Proposals conforming to the requirements set out below must be received no later than the deadline given above. Email must have “Proposal for Fall 2018 Workshop”in the title of the email. Email to Mindy Rollins; firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mandatory Proposal Contents (proposal graded on these items)
The following must accompany submissions for this RFP in WORD Format
1. CV including teaching experiences and main focus of the courses. List awards, exhibitions and educational credentials. If no website; provide jpg images representative of your work.
2. At least two comparable previous projects in which you have engaged, with names and telephone numbers of contacts for references.
3. A Course Overview of what you will provide including course outline and materials and supplies.
4. Cost Breakdown (in Canadian Funds) including a day rate, travel expenses, itemized list of the cost of supplies. CWW has a 500.00 per day instructional rate limit. Student fees allowed and to be set and managed by the instructor. You may bring art or supplies to sell directly to students.
5. A list of what you expect CWW to supply.
6. Availability to provide a second /extended workshop should demand be high.
Criteria for Evaluation:
40% Course Overview (uniqueness, creativeness and specific techniques fit to the determined theme)
30% Costing (lowest price will not necessarily out bid other submissions but will be a consideration of the evaluation)
25% Experience with teaching and with encaustic as an art form
Opening, Evaluation and Contracting CWW anticipates entering into a contract with the successful candidate as soon as possible to ensure commitment by both CWW and the successful candidate. This Request for Proposals, however, does not commit CWW to award a contract, to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of a proposal or to contract for the goods and/or services offered. CWW reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received as a result of this request, to negotiate with all qualified offers or to cancel this Request for Proposals, if it is in the best interests of CWW to do so. The decision of CWW shall be final.
After the selection of a Contractor the schedule should include a period of collaboration between CWW and the Contractor to better define, elaborate upon and fix the Contractor’s exact and final scope of Work (the “Final Scope”). In collaboration with CWW the Final Scope will be fixed no later than a month prior to the instruction dates.

Description of the Exhibition:
Art Through the Ages – An Intergenerational Art Exhibition, is a public exhibition that will present work created through collaboration between two (or more) people of different generations. Inspired by the work of the i2i Intergenerational Society of Canada, this exhibition will take a new approach in welcoming children, youth and adults of all ages into the gallery.

The Suk’ʷtəmsqilxʷ West Kelowna Arts Council (SWAC) is made up of a diverse group of people passionate about Okanagan life and the promotion of its people and culture. The Kelowna Airport Art Kiosk is a venture between SWAC and Skyway Gourmet Ventures Inc., (Skyway). The Kiosk is located in a Transport Canada National Secure Zone in the Kelowna Airport Departure lounge.
The annual opportunity to display and sell art at the Kiosk welcomes Indigenous and non-Indigenous Artists of the Thompson-Okanagan region.
Submission Deadline: November 15th, Midnight, Pacific Standard Time.
Membership/Jury fee: Represented Artists must be members of SWAC. This membership is accomplished through the submission fee of $30, which you will be asked to pay.
Six (6) pieces are required; as well as a 25-word Artist’s Statement and a 25-word Bio.

Art must be Display-ready.
All art must be original. Numbered, limited editions/ lithographs are acceptable. Submissions of mass media will not be considered (eg. printed art cards, calendars, photographs).
Artists must own copyright of their materials. No reproductions of, nor artwork that represents or depicts Public Art (that which belong to other Artists or are municipal property) will be accepted.

EMILY CARR PAINTS THE OKANAGAN

Each year we chose a theme for our spring show that is based on inspiration by a
well known artist. Previously we have paid tribute to Van Gogh and Tom
Thompson in an Okanagan “Cosplay for Artists”. This year:

Info for Artists Participating
Dates: March 31 to April 27, 2017
Registration: by phone, e-mail or drop down to Front Street Gallery
Fee: $10.00 per Artwork and limited to 1 piece per artist
Max Size of Work: Maximum outside measurements of framed work 11″x14″ or 25 linear
Commission: Front Street Gallery, retains 25% commission fee per art piece sold
Drop off Artwork: Front Street Gallery March 28 and 29 during Gallery hours 10:00 am –
Pick up Artwork: April 27 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Opening Reception: April 1st. 11:00am – 1:00 pm please invite your family and
friends. An evite will be sent out to you by March 1, 2017
Front Street Gallery will email an invitation that can be sent out to your invited
• All entries must be original work of the entrant and not infringe on the copy right of
any other party
• Art work must be Gallery Ready (framed items as well as unframed stretched
canvases must have appropriate hanging wires and display materials on the back
of the artwork)
• Please follow the guide lines for the size of work and framing as there is
limited space for hanging
• Non compliant submissions will be rejected by staff accepting Artworks
• Front Street gallery provides full staffing 6 days a week
• Payment management including Master Card and Visa are available at the gallery
• The show will be advertised through public service announcements, Face Book,
Instagram, Front Street Gallery website and other media
• By becoming part of this exhibit, Guest Artists release front Street gallery from
liability for damage, theft or loss however caused and acknowledged that
insurance coverage is each artists responsibility

Tumbleweed Gallery in Penticton: Call to Artists
Established in 1996, Tumbleweed Gallery is a artist-run collective providing a strong and active voice within the Okanagan Arts community. We are continually challenging and exploring individual advancement of our artists within the arts. Together our members strive to promote and nurture the growth of contemporary art in B.C.
Located at 452 Main Street in Penticton, British Columbia, the Gallery is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, with a member-artist in attendance every Saturday. Gallery artists commit to a minimum of one-year membership, with associated fees and responsibilities.
Established artists working in two-dimensional formats are invited to submit their expression of interest to email@example.com.
Your submission package can be your website link containing: samples of your current work, a CV, Biography and Artist Statement.
